One Click by Efiwe has been updated with Night Owl, an autonomous AI agent that searches for new job openings overnight, scores each one against a user’s verified Efiwe skills, and prepares a tailored cover letter and interview questions for every strong match, ready for review the next morning. The release also adds Google Sign-In for faster account access and a fix that returns users to whichever screen they were last using when they reopen the extension.
Efiwe today announced the launch of Night Owl, an AI agent inside One Click, its free Chrome extension for job seeking developers. Night Owl is designed to do the searching while the user is away, so that opening the extension in the morning means reviewing prepared opportunities rather than starting a job search from zero.
Night Owl runs on a nightly schedule, independent of whether a user’s browser or computer is open. Each run pulls a learner’s completed Efiwe courses, uploaded CV, and job search preferences, then searches for new job postings matching their target roles and location settings. For every posting found, the AI scores how well it matches the learner’s current skill level and writes a short explanation of that score. For roles that score highly, Night Owl goes a step further: it drafts a tailored cover letter and generates eight interview questions with coaching tips, the same way One Click already does when a user runs these tools manually.
Everything Night Owl prepares is saved with a status of “Ready to Review,” never “Applied.” No form is filled in and no application is submitted without the user opening the job posting themselves and clicking to fill it in, which is a deliberate design decision.
“We went back and forth on whether the agent should be able to submit applications on its own,” said Chidi Nwaogu, Co-founder and CTO of Efiwe. “We landed on always requiring a human in the loop. An AI writing a cover letter overnight is genuinely useful. An AI submitting it under someone’s name without them ever reading it first is a very different, much riskier thing. Night Owl prepares the work. The person still decides what goes out.”
When a user opens One Click, a new “Job Search Agent” tab shows every match Night Owl prepared overnight, ranked by match score, each with its reasoning, cover letter, and interview questions attached. An “Open & Fill” button opens the real job posting and auto-fills the application using the same engine that already powers One Click’s manual autofill, leaving the user to review and submit it themselves. If Night Owl finds strong matches during a given run, it also sends a short summary email so users know to check the extension without needing to open it speculatively.
Night Owl is included at no extra cost for One Click users on an individual Efiwe Pro plan, or a member of a group on a Group Pro or Group Pro Plus plan, so no separate subscription is required.
Alongside Night Owl, this release also ships two smaller improvements to the everyday experience of using One Click. Users can now sign in with Google Sign-In, in addition to their existing Efiwe email and password, cutting account access down to a single click. And One Click now remembers the last screen a user was on; whether that’s the Application Tracker, Interview Prep, or the new Job Search Agent tab, so reopening the extension picks up exactly where they left off, instead of returning to the main screen every time.
